Spalding get serious with their half marathon training!

As some of you will know the Cambridge half marathon is fast approaching (10th March 2013). There are three employees from Spalding signed up, myself, Marta Jedrzejewska (Accounts) and Steffen Hille (Abattoir Manager).

Training is well under way, with a week consisting of 2 runs, a short (6 mile) run in mid-week, with a longer (10 mile) mixed terrain (road, country tracks, sea banks and fields) run at the weekend. The plan is to increase the distance to be running 12 mile comfortably by the end of Feb, as well as adding in an extra run on Saturday morning, using the Kings Lynn park run.

Marta said “training is going really well, with running similar to Ian twice a week, with 10 mile runs at Rutland waters. This is on top of attending boot camp sessions. My plan is to increase the time spent running by 15 minutes per week, excluding the three weeks I am on holiday. However not to worry I will be active, kite surfing.”

Steffen was unwilling to discuss his training plan, so that he doesn’t lose the edge over his competitors. He is struggling however, with the extra Christmas podge.

Times we are aiming for:

Marta – 2.5 hours anything less is going to be a bonus

Ian – between 1.45 and 2 hours

Steffen – between 1.45 and 2.15 hours
