Spalding GIVE & GAIN at Garth School

Give & Gain day is the UK’s only national day of employee volunteering and on Friday 18th May, volunteers from Dalehead Spalding helped out at The Garth School, in Spalding.

The Garth School – part of The Spalding Special Schools Federation – is a small, friendly education provider that caters for children with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Staff and Governors have worked very hard in further developing the curriculum and working with parents to ensure that this special school in Lincolnshire is a happy and safe environment for pupils and students to learn. There is a common ethos shared between all staff and an agreement to work together to further develop opportunities for pupils to learn the skills needed for adult life.

Dalehead Spalding’s team of eight volunteers – each of whom represented various Departments from the site Works’ Committee, our ‘Have Your Say’ action and the Management team – added a splash of colour to The Garth School’s tiring climbing frame.

Denva Smith, Stephan Brown, Jason Hammond, Andy Butler, Adrian Edwards, Garry Higgins, Adrian Young and Gavin Posey, each picked up a paint brush and re-painted the children’s climbing frame – a special request from Adam resulted in a bright blue bike too!
