Messing about on the river!

Sunday 12th August was the date of the annual Dragon Boat Festival in Boston, Lincolnshire. After the success of the first year last year, this year was proving to be a fun packed day for everyone involved.  A team from the Spalding site was entered with the hope of improving on last years’ place of 11th. After the heats, we were 5th fastest and placed into the second semi-final heat against the 3rd fastest (SLS Scaffolding) and the 8th fastest (Fishtoft Flyers). We unfortunately came second in the semi-final and were knocked out by the overall winner SLS Scaffolding. Our race times (200metres) were as follows:

Round 1 – 59.38 seconds

Round 2 – 59.53 seconds

Round 3 – 56.06 seconds

Semi-final  – 59.96 seconds

Overall we came 6th out of 26 teams.

We raised a total of £447.50, which will be split 50/50 between our charity (The Variety Club) and the event charities (just to name a few: Nottingham and Lincolnshire Air Ambulance, Mencap, Macmillan).
