Working closely with a number of universities, we give undergraduates the opportunity to gain a 12 month placement with particular focus on Pig Farming, Food Production and New Product Development.  Successful completion of an industrial placement can also lead to a place on our Graduate Programme once they have finished their university course.

We offer positions with real responsibility and accountability, as well as valuable experience, fully supported by a Line Manager, HR Manager and Mentor.

Most recently, industrial placement student Emma Slater received the ‘Best Placement Award’ in recognition of the work she carried our during her year at Dalehead Foods, in the BQP Technical Team.

The 21-year-old, who has applied to top-up to a full honours degree, said: “I’m very pleased and extremely grateful that I have won this prize, but I would not have won it without the support of my employers and the opportunity they provided me with.

“Having done my placement, I feel like I have progressed and developed both my personal and professional skills which will benefit me in my future career.”

Past placement students have worked on many projects that have made a real and valuable contribution to our business.  These include the development of a range of barbecue products that have made it to the supermarket shelves.

Our dedication to education within the agricultural sector is reinforced by our Harper Adams Scholarship – offered each year to a student who has a specific interest in pig and lamb production.
