Dalehead Foods and Linton Village College Work Experience WeekJuly 5, 2012
In week commencing 11th June, Gemma and Becky from Linton Village College joined the team at Dalehead Foods for their work experience week. With exams and other commitments during the week they were on site for three or four days each, but what a busy few days they were!
With sausage creations, production time, reception and canteen work and taste panel activities, between them Becky and Gemma also managed to fit in interviews with Jamie Matthewson, Waitrose Meat Buyer on a ‘Day in the Life of a Waitrose Buyer’, Sarah Baker, our current placement student on her experiences this year and Bill Playford, Project Fields Person on his involvement in the filming of the recent Waitrose tv advert.
They were also put through their paces and attended their own interviews for reception and NPD roles. The knowledge they had picked up regarding these positions in their brief time with us was really impressive and they were both ‘offered’ the job!
Highlights of the week must include the sausage making where both Becky and Gemma designed, produced and cooked their own sausage creations which were served to a willing taste panel of Dalehead employees, (pictured above with NPD Technologist Tom Sherriff). It would be fair to say a tweak on the recipes wouldn’t hurt but most of the panel enjoyed the creations with only one sample ending up in the bin!
Both Becky and Gemma really enjoyed their week at Dalehead Foods with some really positive feedback given about how helpful, friendly and supportive everyone was and wanted to pass on their thanks to everyone they met. The overall feedback was that the week was ‘awesome’, what higher accolade can there be?!
