Celebrating Mandela Day with Linton Village CollegeJuly 27, 2012
Linton Village College (LVC) have a partner school in South Africa where every year on Mandela Day (Nelson Mandela’s birthday) they join in the international movement where everyone in South Africa is asked to undertake 67 minutes of community work to acknowledge the 67 years of his life Mr Mandela gave fighting for the rights of humanity. This is always specifically from 1.57 – 3.05pm.
As part of our community work and links with LVC, Dalehead helped them support Mandela day on Wednesday 18th July by donating 3 trees for a group of year 10 students to plant on site, so making a positive community as well as environmental impact.
‘The overarching objective of Mandela Day is to inspire individuals to take action to help change the world for the better, and in doing so build a global movement for good. Ultimately it seeks to empower communities everywhere. “Take Action; Inspire Change; Make Every Day a Mandela Day.”’
In addition to working with LVC on Mandela Day, other local businesses also got involved via our Business in the Community work and donated equipment to this worthy community cause.
This was an opportunity to make a difference as well as strengthen our links with the local community and LVC in particular who passed on their sincere thanks for our support and involvement.
Thank you to all involved.
