BQP’s Fun Day raises over £480 for East Anglian Air AmbulanceMay 28, 2012
Once again, the annual BQP Farmers Fun day proved to be a huge success attracting over 300 farmers and their families.
The Fun day was held at Burston Pavillion on Saturday 19th May. Preparation started bright and early on the Friday erecting the tents in preparation for all weather eventualities; however, much to everyone’s relief the weather stayed dry, and at some points even glimpses of sunshine were seen!
The event kicked off at 2pm with the hog roast and refreshments at the bar. The Fun Day is predominately put on by BQP as an informal gathering for staff and farmers to thank everyone for their hard work throughout the year but also as an opportunity to raise money for a chosen charity. This year, money was donated towards the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
Once everyone was fuelled and raring to go, the rounders kicked off with some competitive play from both teams. After a short break and a chance to go back for a second helping of hog roast, the tug-of-war competition commenced. The team from Nelsons reclaimed their position as champions taking home the trophy for the 2nd year running.
The day was packed with a variety of other fun activities including the rodeo pig, archery, badminton, children’s face painting, children’s croquet, tombola, a golf putting competition and much more! For those after something sweet, Stradbroke Guides had a homemade cake stand in order to raise some money for their census fee. Alongside the cake stand were also some arts and crafts stalls selling, books and homemade cards.
Thanks to everyone’s hard work and generous donations, the Fun Day raised a total of £484.75 for the East Anglian Air Ambulance. A thank you is also due to BOCM Pauls who kindly supplied the venue and its facilities.
