BBQ Ribs win GOLD!June 1, 2011
Dalehead is thrilled to announce that the ‘Waitrose Slow Cooked pork loin rack of ribs with red eye BBQ rub & drizzle’ was awarded GOLD in the chilled category at the recent Grocer Own Label Food & Drink Awards.
This award was extremely well deserved, for a product described by Natalie Mitchell, Waitrose Head of Meat Buying as ‘a fabulous product’.
The rack was the brainchild of Rossana Parrott, NPD Manager Added Value who saw the opportunity to add a whole rack of ribs to the 2010 Waitrose BBQ range. Utilising the butchery knowledge of Rob Handley and his team at Spalding, combined with the cooking expertise and equipment at Corsham, facilitated by NPD Manager Mark Williams, the GOLD award winning rack of ribs was born!
Building on the success of last year, three additional cooked BBQ lines are available in Waitrose, all with an American theme, following an inspirational study tour to Texas last July. Products include –
