‘Business Class’ is a BITC initiative of which Linton Village College and Dalehead Foods, amongst other local businesses, make up the Cambridgeshire cluster. The aim of ‘Business Class’ is for every young person, particularly those facing social disadvantage, to receive support from business to build successful working lives. Dalehead has formed a partnership with Linton Village College to offer effective support and the work carried out so far has recently been selected as a case study to demonstrate best practice.

The case study, which was one of 50 selected from BITC member businesses across the UK, was presented to national and international companies at the ‘Business Class National Symposium’, held in London, with the aim of sharing learnings and transferring knowledge on effective ways in which schools and businesses can work together to improve and enhance the lives of young people.

Speaking at the event, Secretary of State for Education, Rt. Hon. Michael Gove MP said “I am delighted that many school leaders have already engaged businesses to help their pupils make the best start in life. The Business Class programme is an excellent example of how schools can take advantage of the expertise and experience that the business world has to offer. The key to its success is the extent to which schools leaders are able to tailor the programme to their pupils and priorities”.
